Beach near Orlando
DH and I are thinking of doing a beach day with the kids while we're away. Cocoa Beach, Daytona Beach, and New Symrna Beach are all about an hour and 10 minutes away. Which would you pick and why?

I think I would drive a little further to the Gulf Coast beaches. When I was looking, none of those impressed me to be honest.

That's how I felt the last time I was there too. I was hoping it just seemed depressing because it was the off season, but I guess not.

My parents live on the gulf coast and are 1.5 hrs away but their beaches are the best.
I would want to be more towards clearwater if I were doign Gulf beaches

Do you think Clearwater is worth it just for a day trip? If its that much nicer we may just suck it up and drive.

Clearwater Beach is so nice. Calm turquoise water, warm, sand is like flour and so clean. Very family friendly. We spent 5 days there last Summer.

Re: Beach near Orlando
We went to Daytona Beach from Orlando for the day. The water was nice and there is a boardwalk and a little bit up there are tons on restaurants and things. We enjoyed it.
I didn't think a 2 hour drive to the beach each way for the day was worth it regarding the gulf.

Re: Beach near Orlando
I think Daytona Beach is the way to go. As previously mentioned, there are restaurants, shops, and the boardwalk. Absolutely love New Smyrna Beach but it is all oceanfront condos along the water.
