Beach tip while you can - closing April 1st

Town of Smithtown beaches are Long Beach and Short Beach in Nissequogue. They are open to dogs until April 1st, that leaves this weekend and next weekend.

We went to Short Beach yesterday and drove the end of the lot, and there's a smallish beach on the bay side, so much less windy than going to the Sound side.

There's a doggie meetup group we're going there with next weekend so I wanted to see if all the hard work and training we put into recall was going to work. Didn't want my dogs to be the only 2 on leash.

For the last year, we have been training them to come when we blow a whistle and they get the BEST treats ever. Things like hot dogs and cheese, which they go wild for. Ginger recalled like a champ, even changing direction swimming in the water when she was going after her ball, and coming straight to me when I blew the whistle. It's a big relief!!

If anyone winds up at Short Beach this Saturday between 11am and 1pm, come over and say hello!!
