Bed Bath & Beyond Returns

Anyone know anything about BBB return policy? What is the longest amount of time that they will take a return back? I have a dyson that I got from my bridal shower, and just recently started acting up. I didn't get a gift receipt with it...not even a box. Just a big bow on it LOL. I was told by MANY people that BBB will just swap it out for a new one...but since I don't have a receipt, I feel they won't take it. ... even tho their website said they will. I just would hate to go there with baby and vacuum, and they won't let me exchange it. Just looking for some opinons before I head there tomorrow .. THANKS!

ETA - the person who got it for me did mention they go it there...

Wait you are planning on returning a regularly used two year old Dyson? I don't think a return policy should be abused like that. I could understand if it was broken when you received it or if it did not meet your expectations the first time you used it, but not after using it for a while. To me that seems wrong.

If it was on your registry, you shouldn't have a problem.

I returned towels (from my reg) since they were ruined after 2 yrs. I got a store credit.

I just got credit there for (unused) china from almost 10 years ago.

East Northport/Commack store gave me problems...Huntington Station was the best to work with!

not sure policy on used items.

That's sorta my issue as well...but I heard from another board I used to post on that other people have done it. It's still within the warranty on the dyson itself...but I was told by those other people that rather then deal without a vacuum for a month waiting for the new one from dyson, that BBB will take it back. As long as the full story is explained. I'm not trying to be dishonest to the store or anything...that's why I'm posting here. I'm just curious if I hsould bother trying at BBB as the other board members had told me (even 2 or 3 of my friends LOL) or if I should just contact dyson and work it out with them? I have no box...just the manuel and the dyson... I don't know what to do.
Thus I'm coiming on here.. LOL

Were the towels used?? Or did you just wash them once and returned them 2 years later?

I would call the store and speak with a manager and explain the situation. They will probably end up returning it to Dyson anyway. I have done this before with buy buy baby (they are a part of the same parent company) and they took back a used baby item that was no longer working. They both have an EXCELLENT return policy Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks... that's just waht I'll do then. This is yet another reason I don't post on that other board...I get all the wrong (and bad) information!!

Please everyone...I was not planning on abusing BBB return policy...never have I returned anything that was used...but I was told by several people that I could with them.

Anyone know where I can get a box large enough to fit the dyson to ship to them?? lol

Thanks so much! I'll call both early tomorrow morning then! I 'thought' that BBB would take it back and just send it out to dyson....but I've never dealt with something like this so I wasn't sure. I'd hate to be without a vacuum for a month...we do have another one...but not a good one! HA. Ahh... yay for phone calls tomorrow.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond Returns

I wld call Dyson and depending on what the
problem is (be prepared to trblshoot) they will look up vacum repairs shops local to you so you dont have to mail.

I wld deal with Dyson first before BBB. Dyson will ask you for serial #'s so be prepared & have vacum handy and baby in a for a napChat Icon

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond Returns

she isnt abusing the return policy.
the manufacturer usually says to take to store where purchased.
i got a sandwich maker for e-party. the thing broke. to go through the mfg i would have had to pay for shipping wait. etc.
i called up bbb they said bring it back and they swapped for a new one.
when i was registering the woman at the store told me that they take back anything

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond Returns

I'd call BBB, ask to speak with a manager, and explain the situation. It isn't abusing any return policy as long as you're completely honest--then the store manager can decide what he/she wants to do. If they can't help, they'll just say that, and then you can call Dyson directly.

In my experience, they will just swap it out on the spot and return it to Dyson as defective.

Westbury BBB has great customer service IMO. I would try there if that's close to your home.

I'd bring it back - they do take back pretty much anything. I returned my teapot there when the spout melted (and it had only been used 3x).

They were used. They were wedding gifts.
They were completely falling apart at the seams, which should not have happened. I have towels older than that and aren't falling apart. That color was not even in stock anymore so I don't know what they did with them.
