Bed Time routine....I changed it up a bit and now I feel horrible.
My DS is 20 months old and for the longest time our bedtime routine was as follows: bath, book, milk in a sippy, and rocked to sleep in the rocking chair.
A family member just gave me a small 13" TV which I decided to put on his dresser hooked up with a DVD player. My DS barely shows interest in TV, but I figured it may come in handy one day.
Tonight, after the bath and book, I decided to put a DVD on (Barney). I sat on the end of his bed and he layed down watching it. After about 10 minutes, I left the room and kept the door open a crack. For the past 30 minutes he was in and out of his bed playing. Finally, he layed in his bed and passed out. I see all this going on through the monitor.
But I feel bad I DIDN'T PUT him to sleep. Or maybe it's that I'm sad he didn't NEED me. Oh these pregnancy hormones must go already....
Not sure why I posted this....just needed to share I guess.

I cried the day my oldest son started holding his own bottle. Seriously.
For so long we are their everything and it's hard to have to stand aside and watch them do things on their own. The reality that they don't need us for certain things is hard...but at the same time it fills you with such pride to see them gain their independence.

I, personally, would o back to the old routine. Maybe lose the rocking, but replacing it with tv may backfire.
