i was told its not bedwetting until 12.
Is there something new going on in his life? Could be new class.. maybe something is upsetting him causing him to be stressed out and unfortunatly making him pee at night.

My cousin was the same way. The dr said it was because she was such a deep sleeper. Her Mom was told to limit her drinks after 6pm. She wore goodnights until she out grew it at around 8.5 years old...Maybe she should have him checked for a bladder issue..

Supposedly it is genetic. My DD is 6 and cannot stay dry a single night. My DH supposedly had the same issue. We are in the process of getting her checked out. She went for a sonogram of her bladder and kidneys and now we are waiting for our appt for the urologist. They can try the usual stuff - no drinks after dinner, waking him in the night to go to the bathroom - sometimes those things work when it's just become a habit, unconcious or otherwise. My DS #1 did not night train right away and those things worked with him. He was younger but he's always been a very deep sleeper. Even now, he never wakes up in the night. He pees for a good 1 minute straight in the AM though LOL But if he hasn't been seen by a pediatric urologist, that's my advice. They could end up back at square one playing the waiting game with him maturing but in the meantime, it can't hurt. If they need a name, FM me.

Re: Bed wetting at 8 years old? Any tips!!
Three of my sisters had this issue, they did eventually grow out of it (between 8 and 10 years old). My parents brought them to urologists, but there was really nothing to be done but to wait it out.
They did buy hospital mattresses (they were vinyl on the outside) so the clean up was easy. I'm sure it was a PIA for my mom, but they did get a routine going; my sisters would bring their bed clothes down in the AM so my Mom could wash them.

Re: Bed wetting at 8 years old? Any tips!!
I have heard the genetic link (we are not pushing DS too much b/c of this), but I have also heard that it is physiological. When kids grow, the bladder doesn't grow as fast. So all the extra food and drink the kids are taking in can't be held in the bladder as well.

My son will be 6 next month and I can probably count on one hand the number of nights he didn't wet the bed. He still wears pull ups.

Re: Bed wetting at 8 years old? Any tips!!
Thank you for this post right now cause I atleast feel Im not alone with my 6 yr old DS! Its hard because my 4 yo does not wet the bed at night but here I am cleaning up after a 6 year old. We wake him in the middle of the night and still the next morning hes wet. I have to get him up super early and put him in the shower before he goes to school. My doctor says that there are medical things they can do like a pill but its a temporary solution because as soon as you dont take it you go right back to having accidents. He says its mostly used for sleepovers and things of that matter. He tells me he just doesnt feel it in the middle of the night and I honestly cant keep buying pull ups anymore at this age....but then im washing sheets and clothes non stop. Ugh when will it end!
