Bedbug policies?
Does anyone have a bedbug policy in their school? I'm not sure if my issue is the first in our district, but a teacher found a live bedbug on a student (another student noticed it crawling on him when they were sitting on the carpet). I have the twin brother in my class (they sleep in the same bed). The mother confirmed that they have a bedbug issue and she is attempting to remediate the issue...I'm 100% positive that will not mean throwing out mattresses, etc. or having an exterminating company come to remediate.
Our district does not have a policy at all. That means that no other teachers (even ones that work with these students directly) were notified, families were not notified as we are with lice, and backpacks and coats still hang touching on the hooks in the closet.
Anyone have anything they can share about how their district handles these situations so I can push administration to put together a policy?

Good question and IDK... but the second I see my principal and/or asst. principal on Monday morning I will be asking them. I'll let you know.

Re: Bedbug policies?
I teach in NYC basically you cannot ban them from school here.. Oh and I have had them in my room I had to catch one LIVE bag it and send it out for testing. After 4-6 weeks you get an answer then they determine whether you can exterminate. They did not in my room.
Every night when I came home from work I had my husband leave a bag in the garage where I stripped down naked of all of my clothes. I also left anything I had from school in my garage. I then stopped bringing my handbag lunch bag in the school building and would bring my phone and wallet and my lunch in a plastic container not a fabric one.
