Bedresters - what to eat when you cant cook
I was put on modified bedrest today.
Ordering out in my neighborhood is sooooo expensive and DH is "frugal". DH also can't cook anything but chicken cutlets, vodka sauce and pancakes.
What have you all been eating?

I am horrible at this since I don't like food anymore, but is there a Trader Joe's near by? They have great meals that you just put in the oven or the microwave and are done. They also tend not to be packed full of preservatives, although I do recommend reading the label because you never know.

Re: Bedresters - what to eat when you cant cook
I make DH get me a lot of tv dinner he taught me how to make scrambled eggs and bacon in the micro. Easy mac and chesse. PP&J sandwichs. Yeah nothing healthy but its fast and easy so I'm not on my feet long. I try to eat a lot of frozen veggies to pop those in the mirco also.

I second the TJ frozen meals... Also - I have DH buy bagged salads and usually make them for lunch with a little feta, tuna, cheddar or some other protein. Peanut butter sandwiches, eggs and frozen meals have been my mainstays...

if your on modified bedrest your allowed to cook! ive been on for 10 weeks now and i cook just about every night.. unless im reallly not feeling up to it then we just make something simple.
as far as breakfast and lunch goes... alot of cereal, pop tarts, eggs, mac n cheese, sammies, hot dogs, hot pockets, and micro meals.

Definitely a lot of cereal and frozen stuff. I know it's not the healthiest, but at least I'm not on my feet forever.

Re: Bedresters - what to eat when you cant cook
thanks ladies. i work nutty hours so by the time dinner comes around i am exhausted. lol. with all the pre-packaged foods and what not, are you afraid of all the sodium? there are ALOT of salt in them?
DH would be thrilled to eat PB&J all the time. LMAO.

Re: Bedresters - what to eat when you cant cook
I was on bedrest for 8 weeks. I was lucky that my mom was staying with us because she had to take care of my 2.5 year old so she always cooked. However, whenever she was out with DD I would make PB&J, pasta and sauce, veggie burgers on english muffin or leftovers. DH would grill some chicken breasts and I would make chicken ceasar wraps etc.

The trader joes meals are not usually packed with too much sodium, but like I said in my PP read the labels. But there are easier things like Perogies your DH can make, and some vegetable stir fry.
