Bedroom Furniture - WWYD?
I currently have a cape and we haven't finished the upstairs yet, which will eventually be a master suite w/ a bathroom. - So, for now we're in Bedroom 1 donwstairs, and the nursery will be next to us (in April )
I've been putting off buying bedroom furniture b/c everything DH and I like is $$$$ and I want to wait until we make the move upstairs and do it once ....ya know? And the bedroom we're in now is MUCH smaller than it will potentially be upstairs -
But in the meantime, do you think it's a waste for me to spend about $1k @ Ikea for a few dresseers/side tables and a bed frame? I just am SO sick of not having anyplace to put our clothes !! I feel like I live in a dorm room !! - I know it's not furniture that will last forever, and I wouldn't expect it to - but I feel like I'm not going to have the extra time to organize and try to keep everything neat and clean w/o furniture when I have a baby to take care of !! -

Re: Bedroom Furniture - WWYD?
would you consider buying furniture from Craigslist or Ebay .. something cheap and temporary?
otherwise.. i would say yea.. IKEA would be reasonable !!

Eh - I'm weird about that stuff. Unless it's someone I know is a clean freak like me, I don't want someone else's stuff -

I don't think it would be a waste. If you're going to buy all new furniture when you move upstairs, than the furniture you buy now will just be for a guest room.

I agree totally. This way you can feel organized once the baby arrives.

Re: Bedroom Furniture - WWYD?
also try mybobs.com as well.. they have great cheapo pieces that come already put together - delivery is cheap and good
here is an example- you can get the dresser nightstand and chest for under $650
(though i HATE the mirror and the headboard) but the dresser and tall chest is nice and its cheap!

If it's stuff you can use for a guest room then I would do it, if not, I would wait. Target has some nice dressers too.
What size bed frame do you need? I am going to be getting rid of a King size one when my bed comes at the end of November.

Thanks, but I have a brand new Queen matterss .........I'd NEVER fit a king in that room!! Well, I could, but it would take up 3/4 of the room

Thanks - I'll look there too. I didn't think of the guest room thing ........that's true. I guess it could also be used as this first baby's furniture for a little while when he/she is old enough and we have a 2nd baby -

This is exactly what we did because we have the same plans as you. Finish the upstairs to a master suite! We bought a platform bed and two dressers from IKEA for around $600 I think.

Re: Bedroom Furniture - WWYD?
Our bedroom is also much smaller than our future master, so I bought a furniture set that I plan to use as nursery furniture in the future. I think as long as you have a future use for the furniture, it's not a waste to buy.

Re: Bedroom Furniture - WWYD?
We plan to add a 2nd story with a master suite, so we didn't want to drop a lot of money on our current bedroom furniture. We bought it all at The Place Clearance Center in Farmingdale. We were fortunate in that we didn't need to pay a delivery fee b/c we have a trailer and DH negotiated a bit on the prices with the owner as well.
The Place Clearance Center has a bit of a turnover, so we would stop in every week or so to see what new items they had. Some pieces are damaged (some a little, some a lot) and some are just pieces to a set that a buyer didn't want.
Otherwise I think Ikea is a good solution if you like their style and it works for your home.

Re: Bedroom Furniture - WWYD?
Check out Furnakit. We bought our bedroom furniture there when we first moved in thinking we would buy a good set later (unfortunately 4 years later we still have the Furnakit set ). Anyway, they have good prices and decent furniture.
