Bedtime day before early flight
DS is 2 and usually goes to bed at 8. On Fridays and Saturdays it can be as late as 9. We are leaving on vacation on Saturday but our flight is 6:30 am which means I'll have to wake him at about 3:30. Do you think I should put him to bed at 8, earlier or later. If earlier or later what time do you think would be good? I would prefer if he slept for a majority of the flight.

Bedtime day before early flight
I had an early flight for one of our trips and I just put DS to sleep normal time. Let him sleep until the last possible minute and then moved him to the car. He fell asleep right away int he car and then even slept the entire plane ride.

this.. sorta
AJ wakes up in the car on the way to the airport. She's awake through the airport and taking it all in. She's WIDE awake and looking at airplanes, drinking her juice, playing games on the tablet, running around etc. Get her on the plane and if not DURING (like seriously as it taxis out) then after take off she's out like a light.
once we did a transfer in dallas and it was just more of the same. She sleeps on the plane, no matter how much or little she's slept before. If its a morning flight that is.
afternoon flights she'll stay awake more for.
We leave around 4am for a 6am flight so we're up by 3 she's up at the LAST possible moment. Frankly she's put into the car asleep but never stays that way for long.

Just had similar situation a few weeks ago. Got kids up at 3A for a 6:30 flight. Put them to bed a little bit earlier. Both fell asleep on the plane for about an hour or so

Same. We do this alot and try to put them to bed a little earlier. Once they are up, they are up. Sometimes they'll fall asleep on the plane for a bit, but usually not that long.

Re: Bedtime day before early flight
I feel like even if I put DD (who is also 2 ) to bed earlier she just wouldn't fall asleep So it woudl be a moot point She will only fall asleep earlier if she missed her nap that day, got up extra early that morning, etc I say stick with the regular time

This - in my house trying to get them to bed earlier (when they're not ready/tired) means they're going to cry/fight me/whine - which means we're all going to be stressed out and miserable - which kind of defeats the purpose.

Same here.
We had an early flight to Disney and DS did great.
Anytime though now I get him ready and it's dark out he thinks he's going to the airport (when really, it's just that I have to get him to school right when it opens - which is rare).
