Been Scammed....URRRR
I just went to the gas station thinking 2.37 isn't bad, I asked to fill up and hand him my credit card and sign it & then realize it says $39. + 16.5 gallons. I say there must be something wrong, my gas tank capacity is only 14.5, the guy who barely spoke english stood there shrugging, looking at the receipt & then at the pump (which was already pumping someone else's gas). So I just left.
WTH?!
I'm going to call my credit card company & dispute the charge.
What would you do?!
FRUSTRATING!!!!!

That happened to me on Old Country Road on Westbury. I demanded my money back and he gave it back to me in Cash. I know it was a scam!
Try calling the place again.

No, it was listed right on the receipt, $2.37 for 16.5 gallons, but my tank wasn't even near empty (about 1/4 left) & my entire capacity is 14.5 SO I don't know how the hell they could have put 16 gallons in.
I was just frustrated b/c the guy barely spoke English & was acting like he had no idea.
Should I call my credit card co. now or do I need to wait until it posts?

I would even call the police, you never know, maybe they need to be alerted. I never use my credit card at gas stations anymore either. I'm sorry this happened to you!

I just called the credit card co. & they told me I can't set up the dispute until it is posted  At least I tried. I'll definitely call back!

Well it just didn't seem right, I have a Jetta and even when gas was at its highest I don't think I paid 39.

The gas station on 112 and the LIE does that too. I noticed the same thing - my tank is only 18 gallons and it pumped 20, my cc co. said there was no way to credit it though as I did buy gas there...I just don't go there anymore.

good idea! call the precinct though, not 911. and I would also contact Fox news, they may be very interested in a story like this.

If I used my credit card I always pump my own gas. Otherwise, I use cash.
Sorry this happened to you! I would call both your credit card company AND the main headquarters for that particular gas station! Good luck!

Actually I think you are suppose to call the Weights and Measure department, this happened to my mom once and that is what she was told to do. I would also call the Attorney Generals office for whatever county this happened in and they will investigate it.
