beeping horn... are we the crazy ones?
So for months and months 3 times a week someone would come to pick up the lady across the street at approximately 6:40am 3 days a week and beep her horn for her to come out (we actually thought it was one of their kids friends who didn't know it was way to early to beep, but saw it was an adult picking up the mother).
We think its insane for someone to beep so early in the morning, and at this day in age... can't she send a text or something???
DH and I don't have to get up until 7:30am and she is beeping right out side out window a good 45 minute before we need to wake up.
FINALLY we were shoveling during one of the snow storms and the lady drove up and beeped with me standing there.... I walked to the car and knocked on the window. I very kindly asked her if she could not beep so early in the morning.
She was good for 2 months... SHE STARTED BEEPING AGAIN THE LAST 2 OR 3 WEEKS???? We want to ask the neighbors (who we are pretty friendly with) to deal with it...
Are we wrong? what would you do? you can be honest.... I don't think we are being unreasonable but maybe we are?
thanks!!!

That's annoying, and if she comes around the same time everyday I don't think the beep is necessary. Your neighbor should be expecting her and be ready to walk out when she pulls up.

ITA.... exactly the same time give or take a few minutes, but usually 6:42. My neighbor is just as bad as her friend... if you know someone is picking you up at the same time 3 times a week, you should be ready and waiting! UGH.... they are driving me and DH nuts!

I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. I'd talk to your neighbors about it for sure.

I hate beepers. I would tell your family and friends to beep for you guys when they come over to get you. But I can be really passive aggressive like that

Re: beeping horn... are we the crazy ones?
i'd go over to the lady's house and tell her about it as well - see if you can suggest her kid using the phone instead of beeping the horn
6:40 is too early to be waking up the neighborhood!

Re: beeping horn... are we the crazy ones?
It probably wouldn't bother me all that much. We're also up really early and live on a somewhat busy street so we are used to traffic and noise in general.
I do think it's within your rights though to say something.

I hate when people honk to say they're there. If they're expecting you they'll come out - don't be lazy and sit in your car - go ring the doorbell if you want a quicker response!!!!

I don't know, I don't think I would say anything unless they are banging on the horn repeatedly. But a quick honk or two? I think that is permissible.

Re: beeping horn... are we the crazy ones?
When we moved into our house, my neighbor (now nicknamed "Beeper Boy"), locked his car (causing honk) 15-20 times a day. His alarm went off many times a day. Extremely unreasonable--- I have a feeling he was playing some attention grabbing, pecking order of the neighborhood game. With a newborn, it got old pretty quickly. One weekend, I decided to carry my keys around with me all day--- every time his car honked, I pressed the lock button on my car which too, caused a honk. He obviously got the message- I'm sure my neighbors hated me that day, but thank me to this day :)

Sadly I think some people do this. Glad you taught him.

I hate beepers, no matter the time of day. It is just laziness IMO. I would definately talk with the neighbor.

I don't think I've honked to get someone's attention in years - that's what texting is for
