Beginning of Colic?- updated question
Isabella is normally very quiet, rarely cries. She eats and sleeps well too, and rarely spits up. However the past two nights after her midnight feeding she begins to SCREAM like she is in pain for about an hour. This is the only feeding she does it for, and there seems to be no calming her for this hour. It brought me to tears two nights in a row. Dh and I swaddled her tightly, tried burping her more, rocked her etc...but she seems like she is in horrible pain at this time. The feeding after the midnight one went back to normal, no crying, back to sleep easily. Is this the start of colic?
Updated Question: I just made a connection with Dh. We switched her from ready made formula to powder the day the crying fits began. Could this be part of the problem?

Re: Beginning of Colic?
no not necessarily...i know how you feel though. DD was so good and quiet the 1st wk we had her home THEN the 2nd week she found her "witching hour" this was a period where she would scream and cry for at least an hour. it usually was at like between 6-10 pm. she was eventually soothe-able though. i think your DD is just choosing her time. sometimes they just have to have a time to let it all out and she might just like the after midnight time. it's really hard to say what it really is so i know how frustrating it is! my DD is 16 wks now and the witching hr has subsided HOWEVER my DD is usually a crier and screamer so it comes and goes all day now! colic is usually described as 3 hours of inconsolable crying at least three days a week usually at the same time. i think your DD id just fine! hang in there!!! and congrats to you!!

Re: Beginning of Colic?
Thankfully, I'm pretty sure that's not colic! Lily was the same way at the beginning. Usually, it meant she had a stubborn gas bubble that was causing her pain.

Re: Beginning of Colic?
Try giving her some Mylicon after that late bottle. This may help break up the gas in her tummy and help her (and you).

Re: Beginning of Colic?
I could have written this myself! Its just that DS goes through this around 9pm-12am...I don't think its colic, its just that they're still overwhelmed by being out of the womb and choose this time to fuss...why? I have no idea...but my DS eats and sleeps well as well, but come 9-10pm and oh boy let the concert begin...I just hope this goes away quickly.

Re: Beginning of Colic?
Thank you for the responses. Let's hope tonight Isabella doesn't have a crying fit. I don't know if I can handle it.

I agree. That does not sound like colic, more like gas. Mylicon or Little tummies will help.

Re: Beginning of Colic?- updated question
It could be. My DS hated the powdered formula. RTF is thicker, maybe it is a little AR.

I wish babies could talk, so I can just fix whatever is making her unhappy. We are going to go back to ready made formula tonight and see if it helps her out.

Re: Beginning of Colic?- updated question
My ped says the powder generally causes more gas in most babies. Since I had a gassy baby I never tried. Wasn't worth the chance.
I'd switch back to RTF and see if that changes anything.
Good luck

Re: Beginning of Colic?- updated question
It could def. be the powder. I use powder at night at it took DS a few days to get used to it.

We are on day 3 of it, and she has only been unhappy since I started it. I don't know if I should give it more time or call it quits. The powder is cheaper, but I can't take a sad baby.
