Behavior Plans
I need some ideas for a behavior plan for a self contained 1st grade classroom. I think they need to see it and it should be simple for the students to understand. Thanks so much :) I would also like ti to be interactive.

Re: Visual Behavior Plans
I teach a 2-3 self-contained class. I do two whole class positive reward systems. One is Race to one hundred (I made a 100s chart grid made of 100 velcro dots)... the kids earn points for various behaviors (raising hand, walking quietly in hall, etc) and the kids know that the reward can be watching a movie, extra recess time, or something like that. I give points out generously at first in the first few months and the kids are so happy to get 100 points. Each week I have a kid who is responsible for putting up points as they are earned. Sometimes they get one point, sometimes I make a big deal of something and give out 10 points.
I have another chart that has a "mystery reward" after the kids earn 200 points (Same thing where I have a chart with velcro on it so points can be placed on them). I narrow down a specific skills that maybe even one kid can't do (like working on a task without stopping) and put a phrase like "kids on a mission" to show their goal. I lay on the praise real thick for that child and everyone else as I give five points out a time. It is amazing how praising the entire group helps that one child realize growth too. And they don't even know what they are working for!
I phase out how often I give rewards over time and the kids keep up the great work/behavior even without such frequent rewards.

Re: Behavior Plans
I have a whole class thing: it's a bean jar. Fill it and get a party. It's usually popcorn and a movie.
Then I have table points. When we change seats, I add up points and the table with the most gets a prize.
Both of these use the idea that beans/points can be added, but they can also be lost.
Then I have secret student. Each day, I pick a kid and watch his/her behavior. Good all day, they get a small prize and earn points for their table. Not a good day, I don't say who it was.
Finally, individual colors. They are all on green. Poor behavior goes to yellow, then red. Red is a note/phone call.
If anyone stays on green ALL week, they get a sticker on the sticker chart. 7 stickers = a prize.

I LOOOOOOVE this! I teach 7th and 8th grade but I still think I'll be able to use this!

Re: Behavior Plans
I do individual plans. Students earn something throughout the week for good behavior that they can spend on Fridays in our class "store." I change what they earn each year. It can be money, stickers, raffle tickets, gold coins, anything else they are excited about earning.

Re: Behavior Plans
We do a school wide token economy.. but, it's a sp. ed. school. It could be adapted for the classroom.
Each period they earn 8 points. 2 each for behavior, following directions, location(being where they need to be- kind of open to interpretation) and prepared. They get totaled at the end of the day. They have to have a certain amount of point to be able to participate in Friday clubs (the sign up for a club every few months). If they don't make clubs, they go to poor choice club and do extra work. If they wind up in time out (we call it S.E.R) they get 0's for the whole time they are there. If they are absent and don't bring a note.. no clubs.. a bunch of other rules.
They also tally the points and can use them in the points store.
