Being induced tomorrow-Advice needed

Hi Ladies!
Im a patient of Dr. Hanauer's and she decided to induce me tomorrow night. Im 5 days late.
Im a nervous wreck.
Im 90% effaced, 1 cm and have been for 4 weeks now. The baby's head is very low she said.
She said we will do Cervadil for 1 round and see how it goes after that.
What are ur experiences with induction?
How does the process work? I know i can't eat once i get there, but im terribly nervous about all of the "What if's?"
Any words or advice?

Thanks In Advance!

Good luck! My only advice is to be prepared for what might be a long hard slog!! Inductions can take days, mine started Saturday morning and I gave birth to my son (naturally) at 9 pm on Monday night!

Ask for pain relief early as once your waters break, the pain can build up really quite quickly!

And keep your eye on the prize!!!

First of all RELAX...the best advice I can give you is to just try and go with the flow.

I had cervadil the night before my induction. It was not bad at all (kinda just like a tampon going in). They allowed me to eat one last meal and then gave me Ambien to help me sleep. The next morning they started the pitocin. Unfortunately, since I never even dilated a CM I cannot comment on contractions with pitocin or anything like that. They did the Pitocin for about 12 hours. With still no progression whatsoever, they gave me the option for the c-section or take me off the pitocin let me eat and rest and try again the next day. I was already 42 weeks and I was DONE...I opted for the c-section. Luckily I did, turns out my placenta was showing signs of an infection and had I gone one more day both me and the baby would have had to be on antibiotics.

Good luck! If you have any other questions, FM me.

ITA. Being relaxed helps you dilate. I was induced in the morning - no cervidil, just pitocin since I was already 2 cm and 50% effaced with a very soft cervic and DD at -2 station. The induction was fine. The worst part of my labor had nothing to do with being induced (DD was sunny side up so I had some pretty painful back labor before I got my epi). 14 1/2 hours later, DD was born vaginally and even right then, I would've done it all over again. Good luck tomorrow!

Re: Being induced tomorrow-Advice needed

I may be getting induced today. I'll be heading to the hospital in the morning. Anyway, I'm super nervous too. But I was also induced with DS and had a great experience. I went in the night before and they inserted a balloon cathetoer- no more uncomfortable then a regular internal. By the morning I was 4cm, Dr. droke my water around 7am. By 11am I was 5cm and had the epidural. By 2:30pm I was fully dilated- I needed a minimal drip of pitocin since things moved well and quickly pretty much on their own. DS was bron around 4:30pm. I am hoping and praying it's so easy this time. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
