Being put to sleep during c section??
Is being put to sleep during a c section still an optional thing? Does anyone know?

Re: Being put to sleep during c section??
You can't make the choice. It is considered risky to be put out so they will only do it in severe circumstances. The baby will get some of the general anes. so they really don't like doing it.

Re: Being put to sleep during c section??
Yea I dont want to miss it either but I have an abnormal fear of hospitals and surgery. I spoke to my doctor about it and shes concerned about me hearing things in the room that will make me freak out. I didnt talk to her about being put out..I just wanted to ask here first. Thats if of course, I need a c section.

I think they only do that in emergency situations...
Besides I wouldn't want to miss the birth of my baby boy...

Its very very risky. Also keep in mind that when your there, the happiness of the moment is going to relieve some of the stress. your scared now thinking about it, but then you wont be. Also , they can give you a Xanax to calm you down. It wont affect the baby during birth.

Re: Being put to sleep during c section??
Doesnt it only take about 20 mins to have a c-section? Your DH will be right next to you too and I think the sound of your baby crying for you will take your mind off of other sounds you might hear.
I dont even want the sheet up but I guess its something I have to talk to my dr about if/when the time comes.
You have plenty of time to make deicisions about a c-section and all, dont worry yourself now. I just realized that you dont know if you will need a c-section, please just relax and deal with this if and when it comes up.
