Being released from RE's care early...
For the ladies that went to an RE - did any of you request to be released early?
I have been paying for the RE out of pocket and went for my first sonogram today. It sounds like they want to do a sonogram and bloodwork every week until I am released - which means for another three weeks. Each visit (bloodwork and sono) costs me $450 and I'm contemplating whether I really need the weekly bloodwork and sono.

Re: Being released from RE's care early...
Are you considered 'high risk?' Do you think they want weekly monitoring for some other reason?
I also want to be released from my RE. They keep telling me that my numbers are great and everything is fine. I go in for an u/s next week to determine how many babies I have. I'll be 7 weeks then. I am hoping they take me off the PIO and release me!
Let me know what your RE says. I think I will ask mine next week.

Re: Being released from RE's care early...
I don't think I am high risk. They have not mentioned anything. This is my first pregnancy and we got pregnant on our first IUI.
The day I got my first beta results they said they would continue to monitor me for another month and then release me. Like you, my numbers seem great. My first beta was 412, my second beta 2 days later was 972. I'll see what today's beta is. DH does not want to continue paying for the sonos and bloodwork if we can just go to my ob and have insurance cover it. I know the ob wont be doing weekly sonos.

Unless you are on progesterone and need to be weaned off of it later, I don't see any reason to keep going just for betas and sonos, although I would probably keep going until I saw a heartbeat.

Re: Being released from RE's care early...
I really dont see a reason that you would need to keep going. I mean i dont wanna sound bad but if something was to happen this early they really couldnt do anything about it anyway right?? just be sure to have a reg OB apt booked for when your 8-10 weeks.
**I also did IVf and was on progesterone. I was released at 7 weeks and was on pio till 10 weeks, so just because your on pio doesnt mean you need to be monitored.

Re: Being released from RE's care early...
in your case, unless you have high risk issues to deal with, i would think you can be released earlier.. have you spoken to your RE about it? maybe see if something can be worked out?

So between 7 and 10 weeks, you didn't see your RE at all? It was up to you to stop the PIO at 10 weeks?
My RE's office said they typically release patients at 7 weeks after a heartbeat is detected. For me, hopefully that's next week!

That is what I was thinking as well. I'll speak with the nurse after I get my beta results today.

Re: Being released from RE's care early...
Thanks for all the responses ladies. I just got the bloodwork call. My progesterone level dropped from 22.6 to 14 - so looks like I am definitely going next week because now I am freaking out and I want to hear a heartbeat.

yeah they just told me at 7 wks which day to stop. I called my reg ob the day i was stopping also see if they needed to check levels or anything and they said no. So I just stopped at 10 wks and didnt need any further bloodwork to check it.

Re: Being released from RE's care early...
. if you are considered high risk it is prob a different sotry but i was released from RE today, which was my first sono (6 weeks) and we saw 2 heartbeats. I am still on prog. capsules but lowered from 4x to 1x a day. He was faxing all my info over to OB so they are aware of everything.
