Belated introduction and sleeping question
Hi ladies! I'm finally posting on this board as a mommy! It's been a while since I've been online (my internet was on the fritz for the last two weeks).
Anyway, Shana is 5 weeks old now. I'm still BF'ing, but supplementing with formula. I'm amazed how quickly she's growing -- she's already up to 9 lbs. 15oz. (born at 7 lbs. 4 oz.). My days are finally beginning to seem under control.
My question is about the term "sleeping through the night." When you moms discuss stretches of sleep for your DC, does that include brief wake-ups for soothing (e.g. giving a pacifier that fell out or helping to relieve gas)? I'm just wondering b/c Shana is now sleeping for about 3 hours at night between feedings, but she wakes up hourly sometimes for gas or for her pacifier. She goes back to sleep right away, but will this eventually stop?
And I'm adding some new pics to my album for your enjoyment.

Re: Belated introduction and sleeping question
Welcome! I consider "sleeping through the night" when Chelsea went 9 hours straight without waking up. So we give DD her last bottle at 10:00pm and she doesn't wake up until 7 in the morning. DD started doing this around the 2 month mark.

OMG. I'm both jealous and impressed! I was happy enough when she made it 3 and 1/2 hours without waking up the other night. I'm just hoping for more nights like that!

Re: Belated introduction and sleeping question
Congrats on your little girl!
I considered sleeping though the night to be about 8 hours straight. Christopher never woke up between feedings as a newborn, so I dont think I would consider anything where you have to get out of bed to help the baby as "sleeping through the night". If christopher wakes up and puts himself back without my help I still do consider that sleeping through.
He started sleeping through from 10-5:30 at about 7-8 weeks, but now at 15 weeks he is going from 9-7:30 which is perfect for us.

Re: Belated introduction and sleeping question
When I was still BFing, Elizabeth would wake up about 3 times a night. After I started supplementing, she would sleep from 9-1 and then wake up every 2 hours. Now that she's on formula full time she only wakes once.
I've heard of this 'sleeping through the night' but I think it's right up there with the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

I don't know what constitutes sleeping through the night exactly - I just know we're totally not there Colin was 2 mos yesterday.

Congratulations on your little girl! Glad everythhing is falling into place for you and she is healthy!
Technically, doctors consider 5 or 6 hours sleeping through the night for a young baby. But personally, I considered it the first time he went about 7 hours without waking.
