Belly Button Question
How long did it take for your DC navel string to fell off? When you changed your DC diaper did you notice a little dried blood from her belly button? Is this normal? DD is a week old and looks as though hers is about to fall off. I also see a bit of dried blood on her diaper from her belly button area is this normal? I make sre to clean with alchohol. TIA!!!

Re: Belly Button Question
It took about 10 days for most of it and another 5 days for the last portion to fall. It did not fall all in one piece. A little piece stayed.
In regards to the bleeding, are you folding the flap of the diaper down?

Emmas 14 days Jeremys 10 days Lukie in the hospital
Yes dried blood is normal and fine. You dont need to clean it w alcohol. There are mixed ideas but not cleaning w alcohol made it fall off sooner.

Re: Belly Button Question
It took a little over a week. It fell off on its own, I saw it in her diaper. There was a little dry blood on her belly button after it came off, but once she got her first real bath it washed off.

Are you folding it inward so it's against the body? It should stay that way.. Fold it inward, then close the diaper.
Huggies newborn diapers have the belly button cut out already too.

Re: Belly Button Question
My daughters fell off exactly at 2 weeks. I did not put anything on it as per my pediatrician. I had to fold the diaper down more than once b/c she was such a peanut. I started to see little pieces of her umbilical cord a few days before the biggest part fell off.

Yes, you need to fold in inward so it stays. I know Huggies make a diaper for NB with the indentation for the belly button. I never used them though. I just folded the diaper so it would not rub on his belly button.
