benadryl and alcohol...LOL

No joke! I went to the DR last nite because of turning bright red and rashy after alcohol cunsumption. ( happened 2cnd time on v-day). He told me from now on when I drink to drink benadryl before consuming alcohol. Does that make any sense? Sounds like a HUGE mistake IMO....

I agree...that does not sound like a good idea at all. Maybe you are allergic to a type of alcohol? Have you noticed when you drink a particular thing you have a reaction?

Re: benadryl and alcohol...LOL

I took benadryl and alcohol together before, TOTALLY by mistake. I asked him for some advil, and he gave me generic benadryl tablets. It was badddd- I nearly passed out. Rich carried me to the couch, and it was a good 4 hours before I snapped out of it.

I would think if you were that allergic to it, your doctor would suggest to avoid drinking first.

That doesn't sound like a good combination at all.
Are you by any chances taking any medications? Some medications when mixed with alcohol can cause a reaction....
I'd pay attention to what you ate as well during the time you got the allergic reaction.
