Bernie Madoff's son commits suicide

This is an unspeakable thing. While my family has been affected severely by Bernie Madoff, no one should have to go through such tragedy.

What I find the most tragic is that he had young kids - and he was home alone with the 2 yr old sleeping in the other room when he killed himself. His wife was in Disney with their 4 year old.

How can someone do that???

WOW!!! That is horrific! The fact that he sent an email to his wife to check on the son is unbelievable!

I heard on the news this evening that he timed his death for the exact minute that his father was hauled to prison exactly two years ago today. Moreover he had not spoken to his parents in two years and had called his mom an enabler.

I think he must have felt such enormous guilt to do something so final. One part of me feels like how could he have not known but the other part of me feels that since he reported his own father, he must have only found out recently. The thing is, that his death will not let him really escape the law suits, they would just be transferred to his estate. Frankly, I am sure his wife and children would have wanted him even if he was left destitute by the civil suit. Which is why I don't understand why he committed suicide. I feel badly for his wife and children.
