i recc getting a credit card that has direct mileage at an airline not one that is generic that you can buy many things...I don't think you get as much for your money!
I have Visa Marriott and I use them for marriott hotels or convert to Airline miles...and my parents have Amex with American airlines which they love...with my card- I usually have enough for a week stay at a marriott OR 1-2 free tickets on an airline a year...
I also have Amex blue that just gives points and hate it bec I feel like it is a waste to spend 1000s of dollars to get a $50 gift card to home depot...KWIM?!?!? lol
