I have advanced task killer and its easy to use. Just press on it, and it kills all running apps. I use it all the time!

i have the droid charge and dl this app. my phone was freezing all the time. i took it to the verizon store and the rep told me task killer is good for other droids but not the charge - it actually slows and freezes the phone up..
uninstalled it and my phone works great again. ijust a fyi for anyone who has the charge

I have this. Question? Do you need to do anything to this app or just install it and leave it alone. In other words do I need to go in all the time and kill the apps or will it do it automatically from time to time?

Re: best app to save your battery on a smartphone?
in conjunction of your task killer, your can also help your battery by doing alot of little things that you don't even notice.
turning off wifi, bluetooth, gps when you don't need it.
change brightness down a notch or two on your screen
uninstall apps you never use that auto turn on - this is one reason why you get task killer to shut them down automatically
don't vibrate and ring your phone on a notification, just ring
just the time it takes to blank your phone when idle
if you work at a computer, get a usb cable and keep your phone plugged in phone is always charging in car and at my desk.
all these things of course are if they aren't needed

Just installed this. How do I get rid of the guy . It is at the top corner on my phone where I get notifications. Don't want it there.

Re: best app to save your battery on a smartphone?
you do not need a task killer for an android phone..
In on an android phone, processes and applications are two different things. An app can stay running in the background without any processes eating up your phone's resources. Android keeps the app in its memory so it launches more quickly and returns to its prior state. When your phone runs out of memory, Android will automatically start killing tasks on its own, starting with ones that you haven't used in awhile.
Different then a Windows PC, on an android phone, having your RAM nearly full is a good thing.
Apps like advanced task killer, act on the incorrect assumption that freeing up memory on an android device is a good thing. nowhere does it mention the number of CPU cycles each app is consuming, only the memory you'll free by killing it. you want to watch out for the CPU, the resource that actually slows down your phone and drains your battery life.
One of the PP listed several things you can do to increase the batter life of you phone. one of the major ones i have found is the active background. when you swipe between home pages does your background image move or react?
DW and i have the exact same phone (galaxy S) i have a pure black background, she has an active one, her battery lasts MAYBE 8-10 hrs, mine last 2 days.
