Best Appliances
We're beginning to look at replacing our refrigerator, stovetop/oven, microwave and dishwasher. Those who have done research recently, what are the best brands?
What are your thoughts on bottom freezers?

check out Consumer Reports... we got a Kenmore Elite fridge, oven and dishwasher for this reason. Rated very well.

That's what we plan on buying when we redo our kitchen.
We will never but another GE appliance from our past & present experience with them.

Re: Best Appliances
I have a GE refirg now and had problems with it in the past which are fixed now.
I saw a Kenmore refrig at Sears yesterday and they seemed better constructed and the price was great!

Re: Best Appliances
A friend has the bottom freezer and hates it, it is like a chest freezer and everything gets buried.
I would go look at them and take some time to figure out how you would use the product.
We just purchased a GE 25 cube side by side stainless and got a great deal at PC Richards.

Re: Best Appliances
We have all Kitchen Aid appliances. We love our convection oven, the french door fridge and the microwave.
However we cannot stand our dishwasher. Please do not buy a Kitchen Aid dishwasher. The cycles take forever. Often our dishes are not totally clean. We actually had service come in and tell us there was nothing wrong with the machine. My old cheapy dishwasher in my rental apartment was 100 times better than this super expensive Kitchen Aid dishwasher.

I have been looking too and the best brands that i have seen are;
GE Amana Kenmore
These are for bottom freezers, french door look.
I was going to look at the LG but so many people have had problems with them.

Our house came with a Bosch dishwasher and hands down it is the best dishwasher we have ever owned. It doesn't make a sound when it runs and the dishes come out clean every time. If we ever have to replace it, DH and I agreed it will be another one of these dishwashers.
The only Bosch appliance I'm not happy with is our dryer. It takes forever to dry a load of clothes (particularly when I have to dry delicates) and the repairman said it's a common complaint.
We're happy with our KitchenAid refrigerator though

Re: Best Appliances
I love our bottom freezer! We have an Amana fridge with the bottom freezer and are really happy with it (it scored well in consumer reports).
We have a Maytag dishwasher and are happy with it as well.
FYI - Maytag, Whirlpool and Amana are all made by the same company.
