Best cruise line with a toddler?
DH and I want to book a cruise for April - we've never been on one and have no clue. We'll be taking Alex, so we need something that is very toddler friendly.
Any advice?

We love Royal Caribbean and their kid's club starts at 3. We took DS at 8 months and I was envious of that thing
They also have cruises out of Philly too

Really? That would be perfect... and Alex will be 3.5 so it would be perfect timing for the kids club. I'll have to look into it - thanks!

Re: Best cruise line with a toddler?
My sister took her kids on the Disney Cruise Line last summer. She loved it, her daughter was the same age as Alex is now. The kids club was amazing, and obviously, since it's Disney, everything is very family friendly. The only downside is you have to fly down to Florida first.

Re: Best cruise line with a toddler?
We're doing a Carnival Cruise in June and they have LOTS of toddler programs, so I plan to take full advantage of that!

Yup. I think she would love it! My cousins are 8 and 11 and they've been doing them since they were Alex's age.
I know they do Philly, Baltimore, NJ, NY plus Florida and Puretro Rico
ETA: I think Disney would be wonderful, but I think it is

Re: Best cruise line with a toddler?
I think you have to be less than 27 weeks PG on RC so you just need to check that.

Yes, they have pregnancy restrictions.

I think I'll be ok - I'll be 27 weeks on April 30th, so if we book something for Passover, mid-April, we should be ok, right?

DH and I were researching cruises for a babymoon and every cruise line said no crusing starting at 24 weeks pregnant. I would double check the cruise lines policies.

Re: Best cruise line with a toddler?
From Carnival.....
Guests who are 24 weeks or more into their pregnancy on the date of embarkation will not be allowed to sail. Pregnant women less than 24 weeks must submit, prior to departure, a letter from her attending physician certifying the gestational period and that the expecting mother is fit to sail.
Royal Carribean...
Royal Caribbean International cannot accept guests who will have entered their 24th week of pregnancy by the beginning of, or at any time during the cruise or cruisetour. A physician's "Fit to Travel" note is required prior to sailing, stating how far along (in weeks) your pregnancy will be at the beginning of the cruise and confirming that you are in good health and not experiencing a high-risk pregnancy. The "Fit to Travel" note should be faxed to the Access Department at 1-954-628-9622. Please contact us at 1-866-592-7225 or at [email protected] if you have already booked a cruise or cruisetour and do not meet this requirement.
Princess Cruise Line...
Health Matters We have recently reviewed our pregnancy policy in light of current medical research on gestation risks and infant mortality outside of specialised neonatal intensive care units. As a result, pregnant women are only allowed to sail if pregnant for 24 weeks or less at the date of cruise disembarkation. All pregnant women are required to produce a doctor or midwife's letter stating that mother and baby are in good health, fit to travel and that the pregnancy is not high risk. The letter must also include the estimated date of delivery (EDD) calculated from both Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and ultrasound (if performed).

Re: Best cruise line with a toddler?
Disney, Disney, Disney is really the top one for young kids. Otherwise - Royal Caribbean has some great larger ships with tons of kid activities and sprinkler parks. Those would be my top two choices for families with smaller kids.
Princess and Celebrity are great for parents and if you are going during family vacation times - there are a ton kids and children's activities.
How old is your DD again? B.c I think most ships the children's activities start at age 3 so she would need to be 3 years old in order to join the children's programs. Also keep in mind I don't know if she is potty trained - but they have to be potty trained to use the pools - they don't allow swim diapers - don't know if that would apply to you or not.
Check out bestpricecruises.com They have some great deals on cruises - my family and I have used them many times for cruises over the past 7-10 years (my parents have used them I think about 15 times already).
Also if you are thinking of Disney cruise - check out mousesavers.com they will tell you about all discounts available for WDW, disneyland and Disney cruises. I "think" they have a deal now where kids 3-10 sail for free with 2 adults.
Also if you have never cruised consider getting a cabin that is closest to the center of the on a lower deck if there is a chance you might get seasick - the higher decks and farther forward and farther back tend to feel the most movement.
If you have questions about sailing check out - cruisecritic.com they have a posting board over there that breaks sections down by cruiseline, ports etc so you can find people who sailed on your cruiseline and specific ship and the people over there are helpful.
For disney cruise info - check out - disboards
I haven't sailed with DD yet - but I have taken about 14 cruises so if you have general questions I'm happy to help.

Re: Best cruise line with a toddler?
We went on a cruise to Bermuda when I was 27 weeks. I had a note from my Dr and was all ready for them....no one even asked to see the note I was worried for nothing.
