a ring holder is a nice gift...waterford makes two, one is around $65 and is handcut, the other is around $30 and is machine cut...
BB&B carries those and a few others, there's a cool one by Nambe, it's crystal, but it's cut in a sleek way, no etching or anything, and it has a ring hold, but also a tray for a watch or bracelet, so it could kind of be for both of them....

We loved our Waterford toasting flutes. I also loved the Galway crystal candle holders my Mom got for our unity candle.

my all time FAVORITE engagment gift were 2 bath robes w/ our names embroidered on them in a big wicker laundry basket, complete w/ different odds and ends that go w/ them... what about something like that w/ maybe toasting flutes and a bottle of champagne? I think my aunt got them from Land's End or J. Crew or one of those catalogs- I forget which one... I know fortunoff carried them too when I ordered some for our friends. HTH!

Honestly, I have so many flutes I want to kill myself (good thing I love champagne)
My favorite gifts? The ones when couples and friends took us out to dinner or invited us over for drinks. They nights were fun, helpful, let us vent about our anxiety about wedding, and gave us great advice about the exciting adventure of marriage Jim and I were about to embark on.
I loved these great nights of celebration. That was better than any gift I ever got

mine was a book from the hallmark store, its white and a larger book, its a scrap book thats pre-made all you do is add in the pics, its amazing!! such a cleaver idea, and really good quality!! by far my fav. gift, i think it was around $50.00

My grandmother made me a photo album and my cousin filled it with pictures pf me when I was little that her parents had (I'm 7 years older than her) so that my DH could see what I looked like when I was a little girl. It was beautiful.

My favorite engagement gift was a wicker picnic basket that came with plates, cups, knives and all that stuff. They also put in 2 bottles of wine and some chocolate. They wrote us a really sweet note about how they hoped this would help us take a break from the wedding planning when we needed it and just enjoy each others company. I thought that was so sweet.

The best engagement gifts we got was matching terry robes and/or a down comforter. Five years later we are still using both and think of the people who gave them to us every time!

Our favorite was a gc to the Garden City Hotel for brunch for 2. It was something we'd never have spent the money on ourselves and it was nice to have a great meal while we were saving toward the wedding and had cut back a lot.
