Even if everyone around them knows, a lot of times they won't admit it (or don't feel a need to come out to the public).
Good for him, though. Not that anyone needs to know who anyone else finds attractive, but it's nice that he doesn't have to hide his feelings anymore.

You know your friend obviously better than I do, so please do not take this offensively. Is this really an "occassion" to be 'celebrating' or 'congratulating' per se?
While I think it's a huge milestone, and I'm sure you're honored that he feels this comfortable with you and your DH, I don't really see how it's something to get a 'gift' to.
I may give a gift certificate to a nice restaurant, that he can maybe take his new beau to? I just think getting something with the rainbow or screaming 'I'm gay' may not be his cup of tea.
ETS: i'm a completely azz and totally read over the last part of your post. Nevermind!

Re: best friend... he came "out"... want to send present HELP!
Im very happy for him! He deserves happiness and to be himself anywhere and everywhere
A few of our longtime friends in Italy have still not "come out". One lives in a different city than where he grew up, with his boyfriend, his family supposedly has no idea (very old fashion, probably would never think it exists, etc.)
we knew from a very young age. even in our teen years, they would be the only 2 guys that looked HOT dress impeccable, and coordinated from head to toe, all us girls would ask them for advice
Im happy that most of the world is open minded and allowing everyone the freedom to be themselves.

Re: best friend... he came "out"... want to send present HELP!
When my brother "came out", I just had him and his boyfriend come over for dinner.
He said that was the nicest thing I EVER did for him because he was so afraid that I wouldn't accept him or his lifestyle. I love him...there's no changing that.

yah its def. a celebrating thing, thats how he put it to us.. and all day long we've been talking and he's just relieved and happy to be out, open and honest about it... and thats how all things like this are between us.... (we are in nj he is in cali so we dont get to see each other too much a few times a year... sooo thats why we do alot of odd surprise gifts all the time)

Re: best friend... he came "out"... want to send present HELP!
one of my best friends came out to me years ago and after the complete shock I gave him a package of racy condoms...it was very funny...
I told him at the time to be safe. At the time he wasn't serious with anyone.

Thanks...he's my baby brother (I'm 9 years older than him). We are so close. He's one of my best friends. His "lifestyle" wouldn't change that!!
