Best Friend's Training

Hi everyone,
I am looking into training for my 4 month old puppy, and found that Best Friend's in Farmingdale came highly recommended. Has anyone on here used them & can give me a review? Also, about how much money are we looking at for this? Any info is appreciated

Re: Best Friend's Training

what exactly is your dog's behavioral issues? best friend's isn't really a place just for basic commands although that is definitely in the program, it's more of behavioral issues and aggression issues, etc. I had my pit mix do the board and train in january and she came back definitely a different dog. she still has issues and we never took her to the group classes so we finally did the 2nd training class with her and she did worse around people so my trainer has been spending extra time with my dog which is amazing and he's trying to slowly get her confident enough to go to group classes. we went to a class on 2 saturdays ago and she wasn't able to participate just yet, but we got her to be in the same field as a bunch of people and got her calmed down pretty well. i highly recommend them for anyone that's dealing with some pretty bad behavior issues. my dog is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet but she is extremely frustrated all of the time and gets overly excited that she becomes very barky and looks aggressive. she's slowly becoming more confident and i owe it all to them!

Re: Best Friend's Training

I took Maverick at 4 months old. It was great. We had one on one training sessions then after he went to the group class. We havent taken him to the classes in awhile but he is so well behaved. We were very happy with the results. As the previous poster mention aggression issues and they are great at handling it as well.....we went for basic training and Maverick is wonderful.

Re: Best Friend's Training

We did the in-home training classes- they came to the house once a week for 4-5 weeks to train our 2 dogs. One of our dogs is like a different dog- so well behaved and listens to us, doesn't leave our side. The other has not had much improvement, but it's probably because we haven't kept up with the training/classes after the in-home training ended. They still have agression issues towards strangers. Maybe I will bring them to a class this weekend to work on it.

Overall, we were happy with the results. We had a block party this weekend and my one dog was off leash the whole day, without a problem. The other one was locked in the house cause he doesn't behave well around strangers- we've got to work more on him.

if you don't mind me asking, how much does it cost for the in-home. Mu neighbor's dog is so well behaved thanks to them.

Re: Best Friend's Training

i have had 3 in home sessions so far... i can definitely see a difference in both of my dogs. the more you practice with them, the better they will be - and i know i could practice more but even with such a busy schedule, they are doing great. quinn, my maltese has some aggression issues and was a complete maniac on a walk anytime a car passed. now cars drive by, he doesn't even blink. the aggression will take time - my main problem was when anyone comes to the house, trying to control the two of them. it's going to take a lot of work, but we are learning togther. my other dog, ava was just a general non-listener and pulled pulled pulled through our walks. 3 sessions and i see such a difference. i'm not sure how much it is per dog... they quoted me 1500 for 2.
