Re: Best gel that doesn't make hair hard and crunchy
I don't use gel because of this reason.
After I wash & condition my hair I put in leave in conditioner, chi hair oil and then use tresseme climate control mousse. That keeps my curls and they are always soft.
Once my hair is dry, I will sometimes spray some fructis anti humidity spray (it's touchable so your hair won't get stiff)
The secret is don't touch your hair. The more you touch it, the more it will frizz

Re: Best gel that doesn't make hair hard and crunchy
I have short hair and like the spray gel from Herbal Essences. Just a quick spritz and I make sure my hair is totally dry first.
I also use Moroccan oil before blow drying.

Do you have a pic of what your curls look like when dry. I think I may be trying this.

Re: Best gel that doesn't make hair hard and crunchy
I have curly hair and when I don't straighten my hair, then I use herbal essence herbal mouse. I like mousse better than gel. Gel I like to hold a certain style, but mousse lets my hair move freely. I use tresme mousse too and it works really nice.

I always use mousse as well. I like the frizz ease one for curls. I also use once my hair is dry super skinny serum.

Re: Best gel that doesn't make hair hard and crunchy
I was having the same problem then I found Pantene no crunch curls.....AWESOME!!! People compliment my hair all the time when I do it curly now....but you have to use a good amount and make sure you coat all of your hair (or at least I do) eta: it is mouse not gel

Re: Best gel that doesn't make hair hard and crunchy
Herbal E mixed with a curl crème or an oil crème. I find that the mouse makes my hair crunchy.
I like Not Your Mothers curl crème but, I have recently been loving Moroccan curling perfection defining cream by organix. Sometimes I can get away with just that and no mouse.
But, I second conditioning. I don't use a leave in but, I don't totally rinse out conditioner. Don't shampoo every day but, I do condition every day. Then I wrap up my hair in a towel while I get dressed. Put in the product and leave it alone!
Then when It is dry I add a spray oil for shine and frizz. I love KMS California hair stay. I think you have to get it at a salon but, it's great because its aerosol and goes on even and very light.

Re: Best gel that doesn't make hair hard and crunchy
I HATE crunchy curls - I like Nexxus phytoorganics - I've been using it since HS. I've also recently found Paul Mitchell which is great for softness ......and L'Oreal toussle creme. -
Garnier leave in conditioner is my staple - always, never fail.
Mousse makes my hair soft, but too 'poofy'

I cannot believe. I only have this picture with my hair curly! I guess I always straighten it when going to parties (which is where most of my pics are from)

Best gel that doesn't make hair hard and crunchy
I have curly hair and now only use Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft Curls or Moroccan Curl Cream.
Everything else either doesn't hold the curl or makes me look like I have a head full of Ramen noodles.
