Best gift you received when DC was born?
One of my oldest and best friends is having a baby at the end of the month and I want to get her and/or the baby something.
What did you or DC get that was unique or sentimental or cute?

ETA: It can't be anything personalized because she doesn't know what she's having. Although, I suppose I could wait to order when she has the baby....

JenBenMen (my SIL) framed a photo of me, DH and DS in the hospital together and sent it to me, I got it the day after I came home, it was so beautiful, and hangs on the wall outside our bedrooms....
Definitely mail something to their home, like a layette set from Ralph Lauren or photos you take at the hospital, I loved getting packages everyday for like 2 weeks!
This is kinda what the pic was like, but Jen's was better....DH looking at the baby, me looking at DH, very special moment...

Honestly, if it's a present for her... i think the best thing is a massage, gift cert for manicure/pedicure, gift cert to get her hair done or something for her.
It's so easy these days for the moms to get over looked. It's nice getting things for the baby, but the way i look at it... she did all the hard work so i think she's entitled to something for herself (to pamper herself in some way).

FOOD!!!
I know it sounds weird but hands down the best gift I got was homecooked meals.
The gifts are nice but what a life saver those meals were.
We could always get pizza, chinese, burger king etc. but to sit down to a nice homecooked meal was amazing!!

I have to agree with other posters - FOOD! last thing I had time to worry about was making something for dinner at home. I loved getting trays of lasagna, and ziti and stuff like that! So helpful!!!!

I received a pair of nusring PJ's from pajamagram. OMG they were THE MOST comfortable things and I pretty much lived in them. It was definitely one of the best gifts I received.

I totally agree! It was stressful enough to take care of DS. A home cooked meal was awesome!

I was due in December, had the baby in November and I think some of our favorite gifts were the baby's first Christmas ornaments. I know it is probably early for that, but something for later. My other favorite gift was a glider with an ottoman, but that is a pricy one. I didn't have one, or a rocker and it was a godsend when the baby was waking up during the night.
I also would have loved getting food in those first few weeks. We got a gift basket of treats from DH's office, but I would have liked some meals I could have just heated up.

The best gift was from DH....a sandwich (honey maple turkey, provelone, lettuce and mayo on semolina bread) and diet pepsi!!!
Oh and MIL made a ton of chicken soup for us...that was the best!!! So I agree - FOOD!

No one gave us food but thinking back, it would have been the BEST thing anyone could have done for us. That first week home, at the end of the day DH and I would look at each other like 'oh, are we supposed to eat dinner now??'

ITA - or a peapod gift card
I got tons of outfits, etc., but food was by far the most practical and most appreciated gift!!!

I loved getting personalized gifts for DD when we came home from the hospital. One of my most favorite is the personalized piggy bank with her name, time of birth and weight
Best gift for me - prepared foods to heat up or someone to hold the baby while I showered
