Best hospital on LI
Hello Ladies,
I am just in the TTC phase but I was wondering what are the best hospitals on LI to give birth (and for newborn care on their first few days on Earth)....
I live in Eastern Nassau
TIA

Best hospitals I think is determined by what you are looking for and where your dr practices...I am giving birth at st catherines. My choices were st catherines or stonybrook. I chose st catherines bc it was smaller, my drs on the premisis, and my guests wouldnt have to pay for parking. Ive also heard some major issues this month with stonybrook. Now the benefits of stony IMO would be they are probably better equipped if something goes terribly wrong and between the learning drs, nurse etc... you probably have a full team. I guess its what you are looking for that makes it the best hospital. P.S. I did hear that southside has a new amazing maternity ward but I would have never thought of having the baby there bc of bad reputation. Like I said its whats works for you that is best.

Re: Best hospital on LI
It does depend upon what you are looking for.
The decision for me was NSUH Manhasset even though I live in Western Suffolk... why?
1. I'm having twins, 50% of one or more twins spend some time in the NICU... they have a great NICU
2. I went to NSUH Center for Human Reproduction to get pregnant and received excellent and very sensitive care there.
3. My high risk ob-gyn, that I was referred to, has privledges there.
4. I like the hospital's philosophy of co-bedding the twins and allowing them to stay in the room with me. I'm too paranoid and know I won't want them out of my sight. they also allowed for extended hours for daddies.

You would be suprised about Southside...far less problems than Good Samaritan which has a "better reputation"

What is bad about southsides reputation? I am delivering there. My sister delivered both of her babies there and my husbands cousin just delivered her baby there, they had no problems at all.

I worked in brookhaven hospital and Southside and Brookhaven were comparative in their services. BUT Like I said their maternity ward is beautiful from what I have heard. Like I said what is good for one person may not be good for another for all kinds of reasons. Glad to hear southside was wonderful for you and your family.
