Best place for Prof pics??
We are looking for a place to take professional pics with DS but don't know which place is best as far as quality and "artistic" style, we don't want the shots to be so posed, more spontaneous??
We have recieved adverstisement form JCPenneys, BRU, & a few other places,
So where did you get yours done? How was the overall experience?
thanks

If you are looking for artistic candids, you need to hire a photographer to meet you at a park or your house -- you will only get posed pictures in front of cheesy backgrounds at the chains.

Love BRU. We went to Westbury and used Alexandia. She was GREAT with DS and got him to smile. They have a nice variety of props and backgrounds. Very happy with them. Competitively priced, too

I like picture people b/c I don't like props/backgrounds and prefer a clean, white background- which is what they have.

Re: Best place for Prof pics??
I have only taken DS to Sears and have had a great experience with them.. (went to two different locations and I preferred the E. Northport one but both sets of pics came out awesome..)
BUT I will say if you are looking for more 'artistic' and photojournalistic type of pics, I don't think you'll get what you want at these types of studios... as a previous poster said, you might be better looking at hiring a prof. photographer to come to your house or meet you at another location to have the pictures done..
Good Luck!

i have had my pics done at Kiddie Kandids and have always had a plain cloth or sheet behind they have many options for you to choose from i have always had a great experience with them and the people are great.

I had a great experience at Sears. Great shots, photojournalistic look and not expensive at all.

I apologize if I offended you, that was not my intent. The OP was looking for artistic and spontaneous photos, and in my opinion that is simply impossible in front of any backdrop - even if it is solid. To my preference the existence of a backdrop says posed. A picture in a park or on a couch at home is just going to come across more natural.
also don't think cheesy=bad. I've posed my child in front of all sorts of cute and silly things for photos. They are kids after all, and cheesy can mean fun. I just didn't think that sort of a controlled setting is what the poster wanted.

I agree too.
That being said, I've been dying to take my kids to Kiddie Kandids because I love the little props.
I went to Kiddie Kandids in Commack's BRU. I think they did a great job but that was a few years ago.

Re: Best place for Prof pics??
I like Kiddie Kandids. They pretty much let me run the shoot, and let me pick what kind of poses, background and props were used.
In my experience, I would say not Sears. I have had nothing but bad experiences with them, and I have tried 3 different studios.

Different strokes for different folks. I have so many pictures of my son with props that are absolutely adorable!
