6 years?? ouch! no TV should last less than 10 yrs IMO.

DH and I prefer to shop for electronics at Circuit City. They have an excellent and knowledgeable sales staff and flexible payment options. Don’t get the extended warrantee though! I never do and can’t say that I regret it. Consumer Reports even advises you not to because the extended warrantee has SO MUCH fine print and they don’t cover everything.

P.C. Richards. You can always get them to take money off, and beat the salesman up about the price. They wont let you walk out of there without a deal.

I agree. They also give a further 10% unadvertised discount to union members. Negotiate as muc as you can and then, if applicable, show them your union card.

Also bring in quotes from websites and they will beat those prices.

I found I can negotiate a lot more at PC Richards than any of the other stores.

We just got a TV from Circuit City. DH went to Best Buy and Circuit City to look and found a much better price and more knowledgable salespeople at Circuit City.

Re: Best place to get a TV

Check with Costco or BJ (or what ever club is near you)
They used to have a return policy with no questions asked.
My friend got a plamsa there and got burns in his screen and returned it 3 years later and got a full refund (and no questions asked)
I heard that they might be doing away with this but see if they still do it and then if anything happens you can just return for a full refund.

FYI -
Yes PCRichard will give you a break on prices but that is also because they up their prices. I worked there for 4 years when i was in HS/College.
Never pay listed price on anything, even if it is $50.
Salemen will tell you that they cant go any lower on a price but if they dont need a manager ID when doing the sale, they could have gone lower. (the lower they go the less commission they get) (but even if they go the lowest, they still make money on it so dont feel too bad)

I'm not a fan of Best Buy either. Everytime I ask for help no one knows what they are doing! We got our new TV from PC Richards also
