Best place to get glasses
I would think you could do it anywhere that sells prescription glasses. But, I did this once and when I got the glasses back, the prescription wasn't what I needed. And, since I brought the script in, it really wasn't their fault. They were nice enough to give me half off the new lenses after their optometrist gave me the correct script.

Re: Best place to get glasses
You absolutely can do this as long as the frames aren't in bad condition.
Re recommendations - I need a new place as well since mine closed (Sears optical.)

your eyedoc doesn't do glasses?
i get mine through the doctor. You could ask your doctor how they recommend doing that.
I like that I have an all in 1 solution since if there is a problem with the prescription, they will take care of it.

Re: Best place to get glasses
Not sure if they would just replaces lenses but I've been using Costco. I have my eye examination at my dr and then bring my prescription there and get my glasses. They have a decent selection and are very reasonable.

Me three.
I actually dropped my vision coverage because its not necessary.
Your yearly exam is covered by regular health insurance and the glasses at Costco are cheaper then the premiums I was paying that just covered XX dollars off of the glasses.

While annual exams are covered through insurance, refraction (checking your script and writing a script for glasses or contacts is not). My doctor didn't charge because I had no change, but every office I called says they charge if you need a script. Several claim by law they are required to charge for refraction, which is not part of a general eye exam. Very annoying as Most basically only go to get a script. I have yet to find an office who doesn't charge, My family all wears glasses or contacts...they even charge my daughter at her ped optho office.
Glass are actually pretty cheap at Costco. Much cheaper than anywhere else. I know their kids glasses hold up well.

Best place to get glasses
I get my glasses at BJ's and every time I ask to just replace the lenses, it costs more than a complete new pair.

My Dr charges 15 dollars for refraction so considering my vision coverage was 20 dollars a month I'm still making out by dropping the coverage and just getting the glasses at Costco.
