Best place to travel in October? Has anyone been to Arizona with a toddler/baby?
We are looking to go away in October. DH prefers to go to a pool resort vs Disney. It's hurricane season in the Caribbean. I threw out AZ and DH seems to be sold.
Can you recommend places to go in October with nice weather and pools?
Has anyone been to AZ with young kids?
Scottsdale seems to have a bunch of gorgeous resorts and prices are cheap.

I stayed at the Phoenician in Scottsdale before DS and it was amazing...Very relaxing, great weather, great spa and pools.

I've also stayed at the phoenician pre-kids. I was pregnant and throwing up most of the time though. I don't remember kid activities there. Bonus is we could use our starwood points there.

Awww, this time enjoy a prickly pear margarita! They do have a lot of family/kid activities, and more casual dining options. Though you're brave--I don't think I could get DS to sit still on a plane for that flight, let alone 2 DSs!

DH has been trying to make excuse after excuse not to go on vacation. He finally ran out of excuses. This is our "summer" vacation we never went on. To his credit, we had a bad time in the Hamptons with a newborn/2yo and we moved this summer.

I stayed at the Westin Kierland Villas in Scottsdale with DS (another place where you can use Starpoints)- we had a nice time and it was nice to actually stay in a villa with a kitchen. The pools were nice and close and we had access to the pools at the Kierland resort as well.
We flew JetBlue and it was great. DS wasn't the best on the flight out but, it helped having the tvs and the flight attendants were so nice.

The Kierland resort is another option for us. The grounds don't seem as grand as the Four Seasons, Phenician and Hyatt but it seems more family friendly. We could stay there for just $60/night with 4000 starwood points.
Did you participate in any of the family activities? How is the kid's pool?
DH seems to be want to use our starwood points on this trip so it is probably between the Phoenician and the Westin.

We actually stayed at the Kierland Villas when we went with DS. It was very nice since they were one br condos with kitchens. It's in the same category points wise as the Phoenician but, I'm not sure what the availability is (we used our timeshare week). The pools there were nice, they were on the smaller side compared to the resort but, you had access the resort pools too (we stayed local since it was chilly and we didn't want DS to catch a chill - we went in January).
I've stayed at the resort for business - it's beautiful and the grounds are very nice. There is a large lazy river and a good sized pool and kiddie pool. I can't recall if there is a water slide (there is one at the villas).
We didn't do any of the activities since DS was only 13 months but, someone I met out there raved about the babysitting service the hotel recommended.

I'm sold. I just want some R&R and a few activities for 2yo DS. DH has ZERO way out on this one. He is always trying to come up with excuses on why we can't/shouldn't travel.

Both resorts have giant chess boards - DS really enjoyed playing iwth the pieces (they were almost life sized for him).
It was just nice for him to be lightly dressed and outside - he started walking in November and we went in January and it was his first real time being outside as a walker - he loved it!

Re: Best place to travel in October? Has anyone been to Arizona with a toddler/baby?
MIL is in AZ so we go every year since DS#1 was 5 months.
We stay with MIL, but I would say Scottsdale is probably the best place for you. There are tons of restaurants and shopping and there is rawhide and a train museum.
This is the dude ranch in MIL's town. It may be a bit too old for your kids though.
you may also want to think about Tempe and the new water walk area - although keep in mind this is a college town!

Same here, DS was 4 months old it was awesome I'd go again now in a heartbeat (he's 2) he'd really enjoy the pools. There's a really cute railroad/train park for kiddies in town too.
