Best prices for Photoshop? Elements or CS3?
My elements is clearly not working properly and I need to buy a new program.
Should I still go with Elements? Or CS3? I am still an amateur but LOVE working with photos.
Any info would be appreciated!

I was just looking into CS3 today and the prices I saw were between $450.00- $700.00 
Pure insanity!!!

BTW, they just also announced CS4. Don't know if you'd want to spend that much money on CS3 when they already have announced to the next version.

I KNOW!! the prices are so high. after going to the photoshop class last night, i realized that i really wanted cs3! but i dont think i can afford the hefty price. i did find it on amazon for 599.

CS4 is about to be released. You can buy an upgrade from Elements for $600. The full version is $700.
I use Photoshop Extended as part of the full creative suite, I think extended is $1,000 outside of the creative suite.

GIMP is FREE! and it does pretty much what the full version of PS does...

fyi i just found out..
if you are an educator or a parent of a k-12 child in an accredited school you get a huge discount on adobe products. you can get cs3 for 299 plus free upgrade to cs4 on journeyed.com. but you need to provide proof of employment or proof of child's enrollment.
