I know this may sound corny, but we've avoided a lot of money issues because someone told me always have your own seperate account. We have a joint account, but we both have seperate also.
Would you like to hear advice I got from my old fashioned latina aunt? Mind you I bit my tongue the entire time she spoke and the last one, I nearly died laughing.
Golden rules to a successful marriage:
Never go to bed angry
Always have a hot cooked meal waiting for him
Always keep a tidy house
ALWAYS dress eh-sexy

Gotten a lot that didn't apply to us or wasn't good advice... The ones we do go by:
Don't sleep on a fight.
It's ok to be mad, but keep communicating. Silence is bad.
Don't sweat the small stuff. God forbid one was lost tomorrow, the other wouldn't give a flying **** about the small stuff.
One cannot make individual decisions that affect both. We never make assumptions for the other, especially regarding family or our jobs.
Finances are discussed only with husband and wife.
Divide house chores.
Have separate hobbies that don't involve the other.
