Best route to JFK
I'm coming from Great Neck. I was going to take the LIE West to Cross Island South to the Belt West. But I thought I heard something about construction on the Cross Island. Is there a better way to get to JFK?

I usually take the southern state parkway to the belt parkway and then that takes me directly into JFK expressway.

That's totally out of the way from Great Neck, you'd have to go east to get to the Meadowbrook to get to the Southern State.
I think the route you posted is really the only way you can go unless you go local roads!

I agree. Anything near the airport can be hit or miss - I would just leave some extra time if you are travelling during rush hours.
