Best spot for Garden?
We want to start a small garden this year for just the basics - tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers. Maybe a strawberry pot on the deck. This is my first attempt at gardening ever, so there is no place in our backyard already set up so we need to start from scratch.
Is there a good rule of thumb where to put the garden?
Thanks!

Re: Best spot for Garden?
Most vegetable need full sun to grow. I suggest you look for the spot that has the most sun during the day.
Start taking notice what area in your yard has sun, what time of day and for how long.
There is only 1 spot in my backyard that has sun most of the day. That's where my garden is.
Watch for trees without leaves. They may cover the area with shade in the Summer.
ETA: You probably need to prep your soil when it gets warmer. Go to a nice nursery and ask about compost, etc... to prep your soil before planting.

Re: Best spot for Garden?
Thanks ladies! The previous owners had it as part of a southern-facing flower bed, but I didn't really love it as it made the side yard look sloppy. Going to have to put some thought into this, thanks!
