It's the Fridge Phonics. The only recall I can find for Leap Frog products is something different, a big play center.

I just looked, and I don't see any leap frog toys on that recall list.
ETA: here's that list with pictures again, unless I'm missing it, it's not on there. So...it's back to being the best toy ever again

Sorry, I remember seeing that toy on here a few days ago cause I know Julia use to love playing with it, maybe it was posted for a different reason and I thought it was a recall toy....oh well, it is a cute toy! Glad Ava loves it!

DS went from that toy to the Word Whammer and I was so shocked when one night he came running into the livingroom because he spelled out CAT. I was soo proud!

Love, love, love that toy! My mom has it at her house & they still use the sounds & letters to try to spell things.
There is an accompanying DVD with a story about the "letters that make the sound" called The Letter Factory. I swear that's why Joseph was sounding out words at 3 years old.
Thanks for reminding me of my favorite gifts for 1 year olds.

I get this DVD for everyone I know. DS also knew the alphabet by song, the letters by sight, and the sounds at 2 yo - then what words started with what letters shortly thereafter.... its an awesome learning tool!

Cassidys had it since she was about 9 mos! No pieces are small enough to eat, and they're never too young to start learning!

The fridge phonics was from 18 months old but that was only because that's when I discovered it.

I have had this on my fridge for a year it is AWESOME...she knows the alphabet and letters because of it. There is a farm one too that tells you animals...I just bought the word whammer, but I am gonna wait a bit because it is slightly more complicated.

 That song is always in my head. That and "We love the sounds that letters make, we make them every day!" (from his Leap Frog).

We've been giving Ava this toy since she was 9 months old, and she has always loved it. My mom had it for some kids she worked with and Ava fell in love with it so we got it for her.
