Learn and Groove table (you can take the legs off so he can play while sitting before he can stand).
Baby Einstein blocks
anything that sings and lights up
DS didn't really get "into" his toys until he could crawl, but anything that maked noise, sung and lit up he really liked.

My DD loves this play table! She also likes the v-tech Move and Crawl ball. She loves the Dance Baby Dance Fisher Price stackers. Basically.....you can't go wrong with any toy that has music.

DD loves the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Puppy. We got it for her at about6 months and she still loves it now at 10 months.
Link
I bought it at TRU but have seen it at Target too. I like that there are two volumes on it and that you can turn it off if it is driving you crazy

Ditto to all of the above. I don't know if it's because music runs in my family (everyone except me ) but she LOVES anything that makes noise. The learn and groove table is the best.

YES! Steven loves the crawl ball as well. Only now he picks it up and throws it
