best vacuum for hardwood?
We have a dyson which I love on carpet but I hate taking it up and down stairs and it stinks at getting under things (furniture, bed).
I need something lightweight that is made for wood and can reach under furniture!
TIA

Re: best vacuum for hardwood?
this is exactly my problem. i have the dyson all floors which is amazing on carpet BUT stinks on wood floors and isn't light and can't get under furniture.
when i was shopping for the dyson they recommended the Mele or Mile brand and it was super light. at that time i wanted an upright though.

Kenmore canister. Always a canister with the rug attachment for wood.
I had bought the electrolux Oxygen when my old kenmore finally broke and its not quite as good as the kenmore, but it does do a good job and its nice and small and light to carry up and down 5 levels in our split. so i would recommend it also.
ETA: I do feel like the parts on the oxygen are made very cheap. they had to send me a replacement stick right after I got it... they are all plastic, not metal.

Re: best vacuum for hardwood?
I just bought the Shark Navigator and I absolutely love it. I only have hardwoods, and a few throw rugs. It is great for both. Got it at Bed Bath and beyond, after looking for 2 years for the right one.

Not the ones under $100/$150 or the bagless ones. My sister has the red one, it is great... but I don't think its necessary to go that $$$. She has 3 kids and ther friends around everyday and uses it constantly!
I would compare the ones around $250 and see which is lighter, etc.!

I have the Electrolux Oxygen and I really like it. It's the best vacuum on hardwoods that I've ever had.

My mom loves her Miele - for carpet and hardwood.
I think I'm going to be in the market for a new vaccuum soon and I'm disappointed in my 6 year old $500 Electrolux (which is currently dead in my closet - while my 11 year old cheapie Hoover Windtunnel from BJs is still hanging on).
