wow he's gonna have a few transfers. The 4 is out of Grand Central Station. Can he get the LIRR to Flushing (he might have to transfer in Jamaica), then the 7 to Grand central then the 4 to Yankee stadium? either that or he can take the LIRR to Penn, the 1 or 2 to 42nd street, then the 7 to Grand central & the 4.....
Is the 7 even operational today?

take LIRR to penn station - take the A or the C line to 59th Street/Columbus Circle and then take the D to 161st St./Yankee Stadium. It is pretty quick once you get into penn station.

I used to work down the street so I have learned all transportation routes out of there - buses, subways, Metro-North!!!

Can't you get the D from the 34th station?
I would take the LIRR to Penn, walk the one block to 34th street station and take the D from there.

We always take the 1, 2, or 3 to Time Square, hop on the Shuttle to Grand Central and then hop on the 4 to Jerome Ave. Lets you off right across the street and on your way up, you can see the construction of the new stadium!

You can catch the D from Herald Square. The C is super-quick though. My BIL works in columbus circ & we have never had any issues with the C

Yes, this is the way we go all the time. The D runs express. LIRR to Penn walk outside and walk one block to 34th and take the D uptown to River Ave. 161st. You will see everyone else walking and the stadium will be right in front of you when you get off.
On the way back I take the D downtown to 7th Ave and grab the E to Penn. I get lazy after a game.
