Best way to wash makeup brushes?
I've been using regular soap and water and rinsing well, then letting them dry. But my mom told me to use a specific brush cleaner?? I've never heard of this.
Have I been washing my brushes incorrectly for 20 years?!?

I really don't think it matters, personally. I have the fancy shmancy Sigma cleaning mat and a brush cleaning solution from Morphe...but to be honest...I feel like soap and water probably works just as good and when I run out of solution, I'm switching to the soap and water route! I'm sure some will argue that the brush cleaners have something special in them...but I'm just not really sold on that.

I agree - I have used a Morphe cleaner, Elf cleaner and also used Palmolive Free & Clear and they all work exactly the same. They all clean the brushes really nicely. The most important thing for your brush's "health" is fluffing them and laying them flat. It wont matter what solution you use if the care isn't there. I will say though that I do highly recommend the Sigma mat - it really gets in there and gets all the built up makeup without having to use your hand or the bottom of your sink.

I think there's no "wrong" way to clean them, as that's just preference. Think of the many people out there who never clean their brushes at all!
I use Mac brush cleaner, but lots of makeup blogs recommend johnsons baby shampoo.
