Best Western Eden Resort vs. Fulton Steamboat Inn
I would love to hear the pros and cons from anyone who has stayed at both of these hotels. We've been to Lancaster many times and are looking for a new, family-friendly place to stay. I should say I am EXTREMELY picky and a bit of a "hotel-snob" if you know what I mean. It seems like the Eden Resort is VERY popular here and looks great for families, but I'm concerned about noisy rooms and the fact that it's right off the highway and that it's further from DW and outlets, etc.. The Steamboat Inn is in the area we usually stay in and I always thought it was a dump, BUT after some research it looks great and gets awesome reviews too. Plus, it overlooks amish countryside and closer to area attractions. Just wondering about the cleanliness, amenities, and overall "feel" of the two hotels. Any input would be appreciated!

Re: Best Western Eden Resort vs. Fulton Steamboat Inn
We stayed at Eden Resorts recently. I am THE hotel snob. I rarely stay at big chain hotels, I can't stand them. I am a boutique hotel girl.
We LOVED - the pool - playground - kids sprinkler park - that they gave us a little metal crib (as apposed to a pack and play)
We HATED everything about the bed, lumpy heavy comforter, lumpy mattress, sheets were very low end quality we got feather pillows per request because we stayed in a suite, but I think I would have died without them. I didn't sleep well. But DH who is a normal average person and not a hotel snob, slept fine. but he complained about the lumpiness too
The rooms were very clean, people were very attentive.
As for noise, didn't hear highway at all, but maybe because we were facing the outdoor pool? The rooms are very well sound proofed, when DH was in the other room of the suite I had to ask him to speak up I couldn't hear him. We brought our sound machine just in case, but I think the hotel was quieter than our apartment in Brooklyn.
Everything seemed to be 15 minutes away, which was good for us, because we went into town to eat. (I wasn't a fan of the choices near DW, even though LIFers give it glowing reviews, it wouldn't get a good review from me, I'm a resturant snob too ) So it was nice to be between the town and the DW area.
The indoor pool was okay I guess, but the smell of it made me nauseous. Pregnancy hormones aren't completely out of my system. I nearly barfed getting a whiff of it.

hotels SKEEVE me, and I can honestly say that Eden was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in, aside from resorts. It was clean, quiet, well kept and overall, we loved it and thought it was totally worth the extra few minutes it took to get to DW from there. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Re: Best Western Eden Resort vs. Fulton Steamboat Inn
I've stayed at Fulton but not at Best Western. I too am a hotel snob and would usually stay at 4 star and up hotels... Those were also my choices when I narrowed it down to Fulton...
Fulton is clean, close to DW, family friendly and the staffs are nice. I love their nautical playground and duck pond. My 2 yo got a kick out of chasing the ducks around.
I also like that the outlet mall and several restaurants are just across the street 'cus it gets boring dining at the hotel restaurant...
If you must have a suite, then go with Eden since I don't think Fulton has them. But honestly you can't go wrong with either one and if you must choose, then go with whichever has the better deal...

I agree. It was a 10 minute drive if that from DW & the outlets. The hotel was super clean, and we had no issues with noise
