BEST.DIET.EVER???
In your opinion what was the BEST diet for YOU? What worked the best for your lifestyle and body type? Which was the easiest to follow?
AND if you lost the weight...Are you still doing the same diet now? For instance: If you lost weight on WW a year ago, so you still track points every day and write everything down?
Just trying to figure out the best long term options out there.

Re: BEST.DIET.EVER???
It's no secret what worked for me was weight watchers. You can lose weight on any sort of "diet" but the key is finding something you can stick with and make part of your life.
I reached goal 6 months ago. Since then I will admit that I do not track on a daily basis. I weigh in at least once a month and I weigh myself at home every day. I have learned to listen to my body and live sensibly (to some extent ). If I am up I cut back. If I am up AND my pants become too snug I do track for a few days until I am back to normal. If I am down I do allow myself a bit of slack.
It took me a good 20 months to get there but I think during the process I learned a lot about how to eat, make the most out of my workouts and how to take care of myself.
In the end though you have to find the program that works best for you and your lifestyle!

Re: BEST.DIET.EVER???
I've never actually been on on of the diets myself--I've just experieinced a few through friends. The friend that had the most success did the South Beach Diet, however, Weight Watchers did wonders for some as well!

A combination diet....doing weight watchers...but also limiting my carbs...I try to stay under 150...most days under 100. I am a HUGE carb eater, so this really helps me!

Re: BEST.DIET.EVER???
I have been on Nutrisystem the past few months and I'm down 25lbs. I love it. Food is far from gourmet but the diet is very easy for me. Fits right into caring for 2 kids under 2, working FT, all that stuff. Add in running (love my double jogging stroller) and I'm now on my way to my best body ever.

Re: BEST.DIET.EVER???
WW - I don't go to the meetings anymore, i use etools. since hitting goal, i follow what one of the leaders told me she does (b/c i cant imagine living the rest of my life counting and measuring!) so i don't do either on the weekends. i don't go all out eating junk, but i'm not paying as close attention as i do during the week. it works out to be a good comprimise that is 100 percent manageable for me.

Re: BEST.DIET.EVER???
For me, it's WeightWatchers. I eat breath and sleep the program. I follow it...I live it...and it works for me. I can't imagine ever going back to how I was before WW, so for me it is a necessity. It is my new lifestyle. Which is why "diets" don't work. You have to learn to change your habits. See what fits your lifestyle, and for ME, I needed to learn how to make smart choices, not have someone make my choices for me or restrict any food groups from my life.

Body for Life. The plan is amazing and helps you change your way of life. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. When I was on it I lost 25 pounds in 10 weeks. I kept the weight off until I got pregnant.

Re: BEST.DIET.EVER???
Thanks for the responses ladies!
I guess what I am meaning to ask is this:
I LOVE WW. I know the program. But when I do not track I gain (cap't obvious here ), so I started thinking...Will i have to track my whole life??? How can you live doing that...have a tracker in every bag I own? My SIL went vegan and lost 40+ lbs and has kept it off. She eats a GINORMOUS amount of food every day. I love veggies but every now and then I really enjoy a GREAT steak. This is where I'm at.
IS there a lifestyle change/diet out there where I am not omitting whole food groups, Not eating processed food and I do not have to write everything down?

My sister and her hubby did this and lost a bunch of weight and now my mom is doing it!
I personally like South Beach but lately make up my own plan, which is low carb and alot of fruit, veggies and protein. I did weight watchers and lost weight but I dont agree with the program. It allows you to eat things that arent necessarily good for you and are empty calories (ie 100 cal paks, etc). Body for Life and South Beach teach you to eat right and eliminate sugar, salt and other processed food. JMO.

Yup... it's called everything in moderation I started doing this 7 years ago, lost 45 pounds, and have kept it off ever since. Pants get a little tight, cut down the food. And excercise 5-7 days a week. I know I can't follow a strict counting routine... I tend to splurge on weekends, "behave" on weekdays and it all kind of evens out.
If I could only cut out the booze, I'd probably be able to lose the last 15-20 that I'd like!

I was most successful on Body For Life. It is easy to follow - you don't have to think a whole lot. BUT.. it is really a commitment to a whole new lifestyle relevant to exercise. And it is a little daunting if you aren't 100% ready for the change. I loved the fact that i could eat whatever I wanted on my Free day and STILL see crazy results.. not just in the weight loss.. but in how toned my body got!
I really should do it again..

Re: BEST.DIET.EVER???
I voted for WW. The biggest obstacle for me is my mind. I have a lot of negative thoughts from past "failures" that I need to get out of my mind. WW works great for that. I also had success when I was hypnotized.

Okay, this may sound silly, but you should read Bethanny Frankel's book, Naturally Thin.
I haven't read the whole thing, but she gives a lot of good tips for just thinking differently about food, which seems like it might help you.
