beta/hcg question
Hello,
I am sort of new to this board and hope you can help me.
I am about 5 weeks pregnant (just turning 5 weeks today). Since I got pg using an RE, they have been monitoring my hcg and progesterone levels. My progesterone has been over 40. They tested my beta last Wed, it was in the 200's, then it doubled Fri to the 500's. I did not test Sunday, but I would guess it went up to 1,000. Then I did test yesterday (Wed) and it was 2,100. Is that ok? My dr said I am overanalyzing, but my thought was that had I tested Sunday, it would been around 1,000, then tues would have been 2,000, so shouldn't Wed have been higher than 2,100? I know it doubles every 48 hours, but I thought there'd be a bigger increase in 24 hours. I tried researching and some sites do say that as the number gets higher than 1,000, the doubling time increases. I just need some other opinions!!
The sono looked good yesterday, although it was too early to see much more than a black dot.
Thanks in advance for any help!!

Re: beta/hcg question
What you read on the website was correct. As the beta numbers go higher the doubling rate slows down. So it's perfectly normal for your beta to be 2100 on Wednesday. They will probably give you a sono at six weeks to see the heartbeat. Supposedly, you are in a good spot once they see the heartbeat and they will send you to a regular OB.
I totally understand you worrying though...I did exactly the same thing.
Good luck and Congratulations!!!!!

Re: beta/hcg question
Thank you, I was hoping that was true. My dr. did not flinch when I asked him about it. Webmd was one of the sites that said the time increases, so I would hope they were accurate. I figured since my progesterone was high, that had to mean something also, right?
Thanks for the reply!!

Re: beta/hcg question
Your worrying is understood, I've been there too though in retrospect my numbers were good all along. Like Gerty said, you should have a sono in your 6th week by the RE, so that isn't too far away!

Re: beta/hcg question
Also my Dr told me they look for at least a 70% increase in 2-3 days so I think you are fine. That is a nice strong beta number.

Re: beta/hcg question
they double every 2-3 days. your numbers seem good. your pogesterone is also good but it can increase without your beta increasing. i have been there too. try not to worry. everything sounds good. congrats on your preg and good luck!!!

Re: beta/hcg question
My beta numbers did the same thing and my progesterone number was a 16 (satisfactory to the doctors but low from my research) and here I am at 13.5 weeks.
Try not to stress
I bugged about my progesterone number and all the while my doctor told me it was fine and he was right.
