Bethenny Frankel: I Had a Miscarriage
Her way with wit makes Bethenny Frankel one of TV's funniest ladies, but Monday the Bravo star took a break from the humor to reveal some somber news about her personal life.
Frankel says she was recently pregnant for eight weeks before having a miscarriage, she revealed during an interview Monday on the Today show.
"That was a very emotional experience," the teary-eyed Bethenny Ever After… star, 41, who welcomed baby Bryn with husband Jason Hoppy in May 2010, says. "Until you become a woman, you don't know the things that come with it."
She adds: "The window is closing, and it's something I'm dealing with."
Frankel, whose show returns for the third season Monday, says she's grateful for her daughter, but as for trying to have another child, "I'm not really thinking about it."
"I have thought about other women more than myself," she says. "I can't believe what people go through if they can't even have the one. ... You go through a roller coaster of emotions about it."

She got very emotional about it. I felt terrible for her

I think it's great, no matter what the reason. There's such a stigma attached to discussing something like the loss of a baby, because often friends and family would rather sweep it under the rug and pretend it never happened, when all the woman who has suffered a loss needs is someone close to talk to.

I think it's great, no matter what the reason. There's such a stigma attached to discussing something like the loss of a baby, because often friends and family would rather sweep it under the rug and pretend it never happened, when all the woman who has suffered a loss needs is someone close to talk to.

I feel horrible for the pain celebrities go through but for me it makes them more human to me. It's hard when it looks like celebs have it all.

She started to explain that she gets asked that a lot and feels its a very personal question. It's not that she doesn't want more....and than she just mentioned she had a miscarriage. The way it happened I don't even think she expected to share the news. It kind of just came out. She was very emotional about it too.
I don't think it had anything to do with attention.

I don't think it had anything to do with attention.
I agree--you could tell when she was asked she was unsure how to answer. She even mentioned that it had happened so recently that it wasn't even part of the seasons episodes.

i do not tinkthat is it..it is a outlet..
i have had 3 losses..i have been trying to have a baby for almost 2 and a half years
i wish it was not a taboo subject..i wish i knew more people in real life that understood..although fam and friends r great until u have been there u really do not know
if she felt the need to tell the world or tell noone i hope she gets the time to heal she needs and deserves

She has always promoted being "real" and honest with her fans so I think this was her way of doing just that. I think she's a great role model for women. She's strong and successful. I wish more celebrities would publicly talk about their miscarriages though I do understand it's an extremely private and personal subject.

I think this is AWESOME...I wish more would talk about infertility stuggles and miscarriages! As a celebrity they have a platform to raise awareness on sensitive issues. So many people are just insensitive and DON'T KNOW what it's like and also M/C's are still taboo to some. Some cultures or families sweep it under the rug and don't talk about it as if it's a shameful thing. It shouldn't be that way. M/C is nothing to be ashamed of and it's so much more common than anyone knows.
I NEVER thought that it could happen to me...until it did. It wasn't until I had a M/C and was seeking support and people were asking me how far along I was when I had to tell them I lost it that I realized just how common it was. I found soooo many people online who had experienced it and after I told people who asked about my progress and they'd say "I lost one too" or "I lost 2" that I realized it was common and I wasn't alone.
ETA: people seeing a celebrity speak about it helps break down those barriers of stigma.
ALSO...I think maybe, just maybe...when a situation like that happens people will learn to stop asking such personal questions!! Can you imagine what it felt like for her to be asked if she was planning on having any more children knowing she had JUST lost a pregnancy?? that must have been so hard! no wonder she got emotional!
months after my M/C people would see my bloated belly and say "oh are you pregnant???" honestly...my belly wasn't that big...it definitely could have been just a "large lunch belly" it killed to have to utter "no, actually, I just lost a pregnancy" they would say this to me in my place of work. do you know how hard it was for me not to run off and go find a place to cry?
