Beyonce at the Tree Lighting.
So what did you all think?
The Ave Maria is a very special song for me. It was sung at my grandmother's funeral and at my wedding. . . I was so excited to hear that she was going to sing it and then what the heck did she actually sing? And not to be an old fart, she looked AMAZING but I didn't think that dress was appropriate for the occasion OR the song.
I thought I was the only one who thought something, actually my mom commented on it too - but then on Z100 they were talking about it.

She didn't sing the Ava Maria  She sang some random song and therw in a few "Ava Maria(s)" here and there - TERRIBLE performance IMO and what the hell was she wearing?
It was FREEZINF in NYC last night !!
But I'll also admit I'm biased b/c I can not stand her ..........

I didnt get to see any of it.
But it is hard when some one changes a special song like that.

I didnt get to see any of it.
But it is hard when some one changes a special song like that.
She didn't even change the song - she ripped off the music, made up her own words which had nothing to do w/ the Ave Maria - and threw a few random 'Ave Maria(s)' in there from time to time -
It was stupid .........

I felt like it didn't even make sense, like she didn't know what the words meant but she had to think of something "Christmasy" so she could sing it.

I have to agree, I hated her performance ....she was by far the worst of the night! It was a butchering of a classic and beautiful song that makes almost everyone teary--we had it at our wedding as well, and my grandparents funerals, same as you Tilde. What a shame.

I said the same thing to my DH. Her dress was not appropriate. He's like but she's a diva . I am not a fan of her period. Put on a wool coat and scarf like everyone else and by the way I could see your two sided tape through your dress.

OMG YES! The same thing happened at SNL when she performed. Yes, she looks amazing but if you KNOW you have dance and be active - just wear something a little higher!!!!

So I didnt see it and just Goolgled it. IS SHE KIDDING ME? She should be ashamed of herself. YOU DO NOT DO YOU'RE "OWN PERSONAL RENDITION" of that song. And thats the dress from the other day. UGH AWFUL!!! I hope someone has the balls to tell her it sucked.

ere's my 2 cents.....The dress was not appropriate for a more casual christmnas tree lighting, and the song was NOT the real Ava Maria, BUT..........I thought her voice and the song were beautiful. I can't stand here, but she has a beautiful voice for the slower softer songs IMHO
