BF Moms - When did you stop taking your prenatal vitamins?
I'm almost 5 weeks PP and my pediatrician wants me to continue taking my prenatal vitamins since I'm BF. I didn't ask how long I had to continue so I was curious to see what everyone else did.

I can't remember what I did with my 1st daughter. I am going to ped in a week and plan to ask her what she thought. I hate having to pay $40 a month for prenatals and my goal is to again hit 1 year BFing.

BFing for 7 months now and still take them. I did stop with the prescription brand and started taking the Rainbow Lite prenatals (got them at Target).

DS is 10 months and I still nurse morning and night. Still taking my prenatals every day.

this is my plan. i started using the Target brand prenatal vitamins with DHa though bc the $50 per month for the prescription ones was getting too expensive. My cousins ped said the Target brand is just as good.

I didn't because when I stopped BFing we were starting to think about TTC again.
But this time I will stop when I stop breastfeeding.

I took over the counter pre-natals PP and took them until I stopped breastfeeding at 1 yr! My DR said they are basically the same thing and prescription ones weren't necessary!

i think you need the prenatal because just like when you were pregnant- they take certain nutrients from you that the prenatal is designed to replace
I switched from the prescription to the gnc ones and take a dha supplement- those co pays are ridiculous for vitamins!
