BF moms a question..

So.. DD has been very gassy and spitting up a lot... I cut out dairy, and have been trying to eat foods that seem to not irritate her tummy...

The day it was really bad, I gave her formula (milk based) and her tummy was fine...

what could be the problem? I pump and feed... are my days of pumping coming to an end? It just seems that she isnt able to handle my milk anymore!!!

Babies can be gassy and spit up a lot regardless of whether they're BFed or FFed. I don't think it means your DD can't handle your BM. As far as dairy, I think it can take at least 2 weeks to leave your system. Is your DD very uncomfortable and fussy? Personally, I'd talek to the pediatrician or a lactation consultant before I gave up BFing. Chat Icon

Re: BF moms a question..

Both my DC were really gassy for the first couple of months - farting ALL the time.
DS has been a spitter-upper since practically day 1. As long as she is a happy spitter (it just comes out, no crying or screaming), she is fine. Why did you cut out dairy?

I cut it out because with her spitting up and gas came lots of fussyness and crying.. but obviously, after the formula... its not the dairy!!!
